Important Tips for the Shoot

Headshot sessions for Actors:

  • Bring at least a dozen different tops; when in doubt, throw it in the car! But you should be able to carry all your clothes in one trip...shoes aren't very important.
  • Avoid loud patterns and logos
  • No suntans or sunburns - avoid the sun!! It makes your skin look dry and shiny.
  • Bring a variety of necklines: collars, v-neck, scoop neck, round neck...
  • Business suits and business casual are a great idea for men and women
  • Think about your type and what roles you could play
  • Pay attention to what people are wearing on television to get ideas for clothing
  • If you have red veins in eyes bring Visine or eye drops to clear them up before the shoot
  • Men-please spend extra time grooming before you come in.  Be sure to trim nose hairs, ear hairs, eyebrows, facial hair...

If you see a headshot you like or have an old favorite one bring it with you. We are in a visual business and we'll be able to communicate better.

Men

  • You may come in unshaven and shave after we do some photos (if that look suits you)
  • Haircuts should be done about a week in advance, give yourself some time to get comfortable with a new haircut  (some hairstyles need to be freshly cut)
  • Grooming is available for men

Kids

  • Kids should look like kids!
  • Clothing should be age appropriate
  • Avoid black
  • Keep hairstyles simple
